Walking through Langley City today, it’s impossible to miss the signs of progress. As the SkyTrain expansion gears up for 2029, new pylons are rising near 203rd Street, and our streets are buzzing with the energy of a city in transformation.

At the Luckelife Society, we celebrate this growth. But as we look at the steel and concrete, we are also looking at the people. Infrastructure alone doesn’t make a community thrive—resilient people do. While the city builds the physical tracks, Luckelife is here to build the social tracks.
Interrupting the Cycle: Our Mission
Our core focus is interrupting generational trauma. For many youth and families in the Langley area, life isn't about looking forward to 2029; it's about surviving today. Facing crises like youth homelessness and mental health struggles can create lasting patterns that persist for generations.
We provide direct support and mental wellness training to ensure that these immediate crises don't become permanent barriers to success.
The Science of Prevention: The Icelandic Model
We aren't just reacting to crises; we are working to prevent them. Our approach is inspired by the Icelandic Prevention Model (IPM), a world-renowned, community-driven strategy that has successfully reduced youth substance use and improved wellbeing on a population level.
The IPM isn't about changing individual behavior through lectures; it’s about changing the environment. By focusing on the "socioecological" surroundings—the home, the school, and peer groups—we can create a community where healthy choices are the easy choices.
Key pillars of our evidence-based approach include:
Primary Prevention: Acting before a crisis becomes a tragedy.
Data-Driven Decisions: Using high-quality local data to understand the specific needs of Langley’s youth.
Community Hubs: Embracing our local schools as the natural centers for neighborhood support.
Unified Teams: Integrating researchers, policymakers, and community members into one dedicated team.
Why This Matters for 2029
Rapid growth and new transit lines bring incredible opportunities, but they can also bring social displacement and increased pressure on vulnerable families. By investing in our youth now, we are building a foundation of resilience.
Our goal is simple: when the first SkyTrain arrives in 2029, we want every youth in Langley to be healthy, stable, and ready to board.

Get Involved
A strong community foundation requires all of us. Whether you are a local business owner in the Chamber of Commerce, a concerned parent, or a community leader, there is a place for you in this mission.
Together, we can interrupt the cycle of trauma and secure a brighter future for all of Langley.
🍀 Luckelife Society: Building Resilience. Interrupting Trauma. Securing Langley's Future.
